Killah Cortez

KILLAH CORTEZ, the alias of Greg Cortez, is a singer, producer, songwriter, and podcast host based in Los Angeles. Specializing in alternative, indie / pop music, Cortez has a unique ability to enhance projects and take listeners on an emotional journey. Born in the San Fernando Valley, Cortez discovered early on that music was a balm for his soul. Inspired by artists who expressed their raw truth, such as The Beatles, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Elliott Smith, he developed a passion for creating music that speaks to others. After studying at Hollywood’s Musicians Institute, Greg quickly landed an internship at Mad Dog Studio in Burbank, CA. His career took another step when he joined New Monkey Studio in Van Nuys, CA (formerly Elliott Smith’s studio), where he worked with artists like Billy Ray Cyrus, The Kooks, Cheekface, Kim Deal, and L.A. Guns. As a songwriter, Cortez’s authenticity shines through, having written for a diverse range of artists. His studio work has earned recognition, including the track “S.O.S.- Sawn-off-Shotgun” by The Glorious Sons, which reached #1 on the Billboard rock charts. Cortez has also received praise from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Lyrical Lemonade, and Paste Magazine, with his music appearing in commercials and TV shows like Younger.
