Jess Lipsky (a.k.a. DJ Terry Dactyl) has taken her passion for soul, funk, reggae and boogaloo to dancefloors across the country. When she’s not collecting records, she writes about them for the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Wax Poetics and elsewhere. She is the author of the award-winning book “”It Ain’t Retro,”” a biography of Daptone Records and the revival soul scene (Jawbone Press), and the managing editor of the Recording Academy.
