Hailing from Ventura, California, Jayden Secor (22) blends country with heavy influences
of rock and Red Dirt. As a self-taught singer-songwriter and guitarist, his sound can be
described as well-rounded with impressive musicianship and solid lyricism. Secor has released
numerous singles over the years and has been consistently playing shows along the West
Coast and in Nashville.
Secor started playing music at 11 years old when he was gifted his first guitar from his parents.
A wide range of music was played in his household growing up. From the soulful southern
sound of the Allman Brothers, to the improvisational genius that was Dave Matthews Band, to
the heavy guitar riffs of bands like Tool and Metallica, Secor immediately became enamored
with music and sought to cement his place in its ecosystem; regardless of where, how, or when.
By the time he was in high school, Secor was playing nearly every week at open mics across
Ventura County, and formed the surf rock band The References with a few of his friends. He
began writing his own songs and fell in love with the songwriting process. Playing in the band
also gave Secor the opportunity to improve his live performace chops by playing shows across
the West Coast.
In 2020, Secor moved on to pursuing a solo career, taking the extra downtime during the
pandemic to further work on his craft as a guitarist, songwriter and singer. It was during this time
that he recorded and released Behind the Door, his debut EP. This collection of 6 songs was a
testing of the water for Secor, as the project collectively showcased all of his musical influences;
country, rock, alternative, and blues.
By 2022, Secor began to make a name for himself in the local music scene by playing shows
weekly in and around Ventura County. It was during this time that he deeply fell in love with
country music, and decided to take his passion for the genre and implement it into his own
songs. Starting in March of that same year, Secor began releasing singles, with each tune
sharing similar sounds to his first project, but in a more complete and refined package.
As of 2025, Secor has had 11 studio releases and is showing no signs of stopping. With bigger
and better projects on the horizon, as well as hitting the road weekly to play shows with his band
across California and Tennessee, Jayden Secor is an artist you’ll want to keep an eye and ear
out for.
