Midnight Gaucho

Your heart is broken, it’s time to let go”” were the words of wisdom spoken by Argentine folklore legend Horacio Guarany to Fede Petro-a chance encounter that profoundly shaped Petro’s journey as a musician and songwriter. Those words became the foundation of Midnight Gaucho, a project that seamlessly blends the rich traditions of American and Argentine folk into a sound uniquely his own. Over the years, Petro’s career has spanned continents, with performances at prestigious festivals like Lollapalooza Argentina, Ciudad Emergente, and the Sand & Strings Festival in Mexico (2024), as well as intimate venues across Los Angeles, including The Hotel Cafe, Healing Force, and Desert 5. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Petro began his musical career immersed in the vibrant Argentine music scene, producing and collaborating with artists such as Estela Stier, Agustin Donati, and Mauro Meloni, while performing on some of the country’s most iconic stages. His passion for music took him to San Francisco in 2010, where he busked on street corners, performed in subway stations, and collaborated with fellow folk musicians, shaping his identity as an artist willing to take risks and embrace new cultural influences. His time at Hyde Street Studios’ legendary Studio C refined his skills as a producer and multi-instrumentalist, solidifying his reputation as a versatile and innovative musician.

The pandemic in 2020 marked a pivotal turning point in Petro’s career, prompting him to return to the United States full-time and establish himself in Los Angeles. This decision opened the door to collaborations with American artists such as Audrey II and Gal Musette, further expanding his global perspective and bridging musical styles. These experiences set the stage for Petro’s reemergence as Midnight Gaucho, blending heartfelt storytelling with masterful arrangements.

In 2024, Petro released three singles, culminating with the poignant “”The Last Breath”” in November. Recorded between Argentina and Los Angeles, the song explores themes of perseverance and human connection, standing as a cornerstone for his upcoming EP. The project weaves Petro’s personal narratives with universal struggles, presenting a sound that resonates deeply across borders. Looking ahead, Petro is preparing to release new music in 2025, collaborating with musicians from both Argentina and the United States. With plans for an international tour across the United States and Europe, Midnight Gaucho promises to bring its evocative sound to an even broader audience, continuing to share stories of connection, struggle, and the beauty of finding one’s place in the world.
