Mas Music – Born and raised in Long Beach, California, with roots in Bellflower, my journey into music was shaped by a deep faith and a strong influence from praise and worship. Encouraged by family and friends, I embraced my passion for music, but it wasn’t until I began mixing (kava) and exploring the diverse genres played at the kalapu that I truly discovered my artistic calling.
Musical StyleSka reggae meets island vibes, blended with the richness of roots and a touch of R&B— seasoned to perfection. Let it marinate, simmer down, and what you get is the unmistakable sound of Mas Music.
Background and StoryI didn’t grow up in a traditional musical family—certainly not in the classical sense. But music was always a constant presence in our home. While not everyone in my family was a musician, we were all passionate about singing, especially in church. Hymns were a part of our daily life—hymns on hymns on hymns, it never stopped. Singing in church wasn’t optional for me. Even on days when I didn’t feel like it, I had no choice but to be there. In hindsight, though, I see just how much that experience laid the foundation for who I am today. At just nine years old, I picked up the trumpet—not because I dreamed of being a trumpet player, but to help the church band. My mom also made sure I took piano lessons, even going so far as to buy an old-school Yamaha piano so I could practice. We weren’t the wealthiest, but we were rich in blessings, and we always found a way to make things work. For me, music became a bridge to the church, and even more importantly, it strengthened my relationship with God. It wasn’t just something I did—it became an integral part of my identity.
Career Highlights and AchievementsI’ve been honored to perform as part of the opening lineup at several concerts, including Holoholo Fest 2023, an unforgettable experience that truly solidified my passion for the stage. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with incredibly talented artists like Richie V., Kelemi, J-Strings, and Siaosi, each bringing a unique energy that has helped shape my musical journey. Beyond the performances, some of the most memorable moments have happened backstage—sharing space with legends like J-Boog, Spawnbreezie, and the Legend himself Uncle Fiji. Being around such inspiring figures, hearing their stories, and witnessing their dedication firsthand has been both humbling and motivating. Every step of this journey has been a blessing, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
